Where has the time gone? Only 2 weeks till Christmas and 3 weeks until I go back to work! AAAHHHH!!! I am NOT prepared for that! *sob* And this fall has been so busy that my poor bloggy has been severely neglected... I still love you little bloggy! And as the blog world has been delighted with gorgeous holiday cards, I thought I'd add to your visual delight! That's if you like my card! Ha!

Little Oslo is here to wish you all Seasons Greetings! I know it sounds funny, but I love coloring snowmen! The blue shading makes him look nice and frosty! Together Forever...

I was inspired! I don't get much time these days to leisurely peruse the interwebs, but I did get a chance the other night to stop by a fellow CTMH'ers blog and I did some learnin'! Tresa Black is a crafty goddess! If you haven't already been to her blog Fabulously Artsy, you must go... NOW! As I mentioned, she is a fellow CTMH consultant from the USA, and she posts wonderfully creative video tutorials to her blog on a regular basis. So whilst perusing I fell in love with a card she made in her post called Sparkles and Ruffles. And so I just HAD to watch the tutorial that goes along with it. Tresa's videos make things so EASY!! And seeing as I've co-organized a bridal shower for this weekend, I needed a card, and so talk about the perfect time to try out my new found skill of ruffle making! Unfortunately I took the easy way out, and used patterned paper. Apparently my house is seriously lacking in printer paper, and I couldn't find a background stamp that I liked enough to use anyways... so voila! Here's my bridal shower card for my friend Allison - thank you Tresa for your inspiration!

I LOVE Halloween!!! It's my favorite holiday of ALL TIME!! And that's cause my birthday is right before Halloween! This gal has had many a Halloween themed birthday party in her time! And this year is going to be even better! I'm co-organizing a Halloween Stag n' Doe! I can't wait!! And my costume is going to be hilarious!!! But I won't spill the beans until Halloween - my costume is very "now", very "Jersey" if I may say so... hmm... too much?! LOL!!

some privacy please?!

So it's already the middle of August - I can't believe that this summer has just flown by! I've already gotten invites to crops in the fall, booking fall/winter craft sales with my Gran and making TONS of crocheted hats! I have to admit, I've been a slacker when it comes to cards lately. The baby keeps me super busy and it's just plain easier to work on something sitting within her line of sight - the new development has been COMPLETELY freaking out when Mommy walks away, so I try to ease her distress by staying fairly close! LOL! But then Daddy comes home and Mommy gets crafting time! Yippee! I've had a bunch of these adorable and quirky new kitty stamps from StarvingArtistamps inked up and waiting to be carded (does that make sense?!) I thought this one was HILARIOUS, and the sentiments that Tracey has for these stamps are great as well!

So what do you have planned for this fall? I've decided to extend my mat leave so it looks like I'll be making a bunch of my Christmas presents this year! Thank GOD for yarn and Ravelry!

Do you remember back when you used to write "Jenn + (insert weekly crush here) = TLF" all over your school books?! Or your first name and that crush's last name! Haha! These stamps made me think of those times when so-and-so was your boyfriend for a whole 20 minutes and, when it was over, your life was crushed! LOL!! Until the next boy/girl looked your way and over it started! And so I made a card to memorialize that long gone era of my life!

Hello blogland! I hope everyone had a great weekend wherever you may be! I've been seriously neglecting my blog duties, but I guess that's what happens when it's summer! I've also been seriously slacking on the card making front... one of my best friends just moved into her first house this past weekend, so I've been busy making her house warming presents! Needless to say I won't be crocheting any more twine bags in the near future... I think I scrubbed off all the fingerprints on my poor little digits! Not something I'd recommend mass producing!

I've got a few more cards to share with you from the Antidepresstamps Giggle Bears, Birds and Bees release from Starving Artistamps! These stamps didn't come with sentiments, but with the HUGE selection that Starving Artistamps has, you'll have no problem finding one that works!

You're a super Dad!

Happy Canada Day to all my fellow Canadians! I hope you are all enjoying your day off! The weather is great here in Ottawa; we were just out enjoying the sunshine with a walk around my hometown as well as some ice cream! I didn't post this card before Father's Day, as hubby likes to browse my blog when he's BORED at work... yup, that's what he tells me! And I wanted it to be a surprise! So here it is!

Mr. Super Dad is part of the DoodleFactory Oh Baby, You're Super release; great for Father's Day cards! Speaking of DoodleFactory, Starving Artistamps has another DoodleFactory release coming very soon! There are a few new releases from other artists coming up first, and that are already available on the website, so check those out here! I'll have some cute kitty cards coming in the near future; just wanting for the rubbah to arrive!

My SIL Sheena (who’s a little further down the blog hop list) was the one who introduced me to PWCo a while back, as we originally where both in search of a Canadian company where we could buy Cuttlebug embossing plates and dies, and we found a great supplier with PWCo! Then Peggy decided to introduce stamps to her lineup... and we were HOOKED! (no pun intended! – see image below) Which brings me to my first card for this hop!

My most recent acquisitions from PWCo are the new EXCLUSIVE Rachelle Anne Miller stamps! Talk about the epitome of CUTENESS! And Rachelle is from our hometown of all places! Gotta support the local gals!! So a fitting image to share with you today is the new Gone Fishing stamp – isn’t this little teddy adorable!? And the stamp comes with its own sentiment, although I chose to leave it off this card. The details in her images are just exquisite – from the little buggies hitchin a ride on the boat to the little flourish-y swirls on the leaves – just divine!! Check them all out here!

And what would be a hop showcasing our love for PWCo without my all time favourite little gal from the very first stamp line that Peggy released... Harriet from the Safari Friends! I am a firm believer that Harriet is a true girly girl, which is why she always has pink toenails when she’s on one of my cards! She has also been known to sport pink sparkles at times, but she decided not to overdo it for this occasion!

My friend...

Today is my friend Allison's birthday! And this is her birthday card! She's not the crafty type and probably doesn't even remember that I have a blog, so I'm not worried about her seeing this before she receives it! LOL!

For this card I used stamps from the Spotlight Kit from The Greeting Farm! I LOVE the butterfly in this set... something about it's shape and the funky polka dots - LOVE it!

I also used papers from the Indian Summer pack from Basic Grey, that I've been DYING to get and just purchased recently (because it's been sold out EVERYWHERE!). A pretty little label nestie to frame the sentiment and VOILA! Gorgeous little birthday card for my gorgeous friend!

This card was for my BIL's birthday - I didn't post it in April because the SIL would see it! LOL! Gotta keep some things as surprises these days! I used one of the mini cupcakes from the DoodleFactory Sweets n' Hearts set for Flob to hold - yeah for birthdays!!

Hello everyone! Did you all have a glorious Monday yesterday? The weather here was amazing! I thought I'd share with you another of the DoodleFactory Creatures II critters - this is Clowd! She (she looks like a she to me!) is pretty cute I think - all panda bear-ish and such! I've been hording my Basic Grey papers so I forced myself to use some of this pretty Wisteria pack... LOVE it's soft colors!! Can't wait to get Kioshi as it's very similar, but I still love the splash of dark purple in Wisteria... k, 'nuff blathering here!

So we just got word that there is a new stamp set headed out to the Design Team from Starving Artistamps!! And I can't wait!! It's by a new stamp designer, and a very talented artist if I do say so myself! If I could only have an ounce of her talent - I'm super envious of her style and magnificent coloring abilities!! But enough gushing! I have a few more cards from the Creatures II set to share with you before the new release!

My little beige and blue Unger... after I colored him I thought it looked like he'd gotten a case of hypothermia... poor little guy! LOL! I wanted him to match the papers I had used for the rest of the card... maybe next time I'll think before I color!

Cherry-O!

Happy Monday everyone! I thought I'd start this week off with some NEW artwork from the CTMH Summer 2010 Idea Book! The new Cherry-O paper pack has to be my favorite pack from this catty! I love how the pack has papers with and without the cherries - as you can see on this card, no cherries! I used the new Irresistibles Chipboard shapes and one of the new square clear cards! The sentiment is also from the new Tasty Treats stamp set. A little pink button and voila! A fun and interactive card!

And of course I had to show a card WITH cherries! The sentiment says it all - this stamp set is called You're Sweet and is a great compliment to this paper pack and has lots of other fresh summer stamps! Mmm.. fruit... makes me hungry just looking at it! For added dimension I stamped two extra cherries and popped them up.

All of these fun, fresh new stamps and papers make me think summer... but the weather outside sure doesn't! It snowed the other day! So much for the sunny weather! We've got a cold front passing through, but it won't go fast enough! I want the heat back!!! Grrr...

No... it isn't some new kind of stew/soup concoction... It's Gumbo from the Starving Artistamps DoodleFactory Creatures II set! And as you can see he's blue! I tried my hand at using my Touch markers (similar to copics) to color him - still need some practice! LOL!! I just got a new set of the very light pastel copics from Starving Artistamps, so hopefully I'll get a hang of it sooner or later!

Quick Wedding card

We found out that hubby's cousin got hitched last week... yup - didn't tell ANYONE!! That's alright though - to each their own! So I whipped up this quick card before we went visiting on Easter Sunday. Starving Artistamps Creatures II Release Day!!!!

Happy April 1st! Today is a WONDERFUL day! Not only is it my Mom's birthday, it's Release Day!!! Starving Artistamps is releasing the long awaited follow up to the ever popular DoodleFactory Creatures stamp set - Creatures II! And this set is AWESOME! Over the next little while I'll be posting some creations of mine with these uber cute stamps, but here are a few to get you started!

Remember the first sneak peek from last week? (oh, that rhymes... sorry!) Well here's the full card!

And YES - the sentiment comes with the set!! LOL!! As I showed on the sneak peek, I used some CTMH Liquid Glass on his finger as the boogie, and it looks like Zed here picked and flicked as there's another boogie hanging off the sentiment! Blah! LOL!

The second sneak peek I showed featured a little guy named Goonter... and he looks like he's doing some kind of crazy dance! Either that or he just saw a mouse... EEEKKK!!! It's your call!

And last but not least is a card featuring Sprat... he's a little devil... literally!

Thursday is April 1st! And I have two reasons to celebrate - the first being the DoodleFactory release (stop by to see cards with the newly released images!) and the second is because it's my Mom's birthday!

This is the card that I made for her - I felt like switching things up a bit and making a non-square or rectangular card. And I was going through my papers and realized that I've barely touched my K&Co Amy Butler papers that I love so much! I have to keep reminding myself that paper is made to be used... not horded!

real love stories...

Happy Monday! I thought I should stop in and share some artwork! The McMillan household has been a busy one lately - lots of visitors, and little Miss Ava took her first road trip this past weekend!

I made this card before the baby came - still haven't attempted sitting down to create yet... will get to that soon enough I hope! I used the new DoodleFactory Boudoir stamps and matching sentiment set for this card; papers are all CTMH. I also added tiny little gold hearts to some of the book ends to go along with the "love story" theme. It's amazing what a person can find when they do a little cleaning - I never went through that "nesting" phase before Ava was born, but I did need to clean our spare room the weekend before as we had friends over from out of town - and I found a jar of heart sprinkles that I had bought for my BFF's stag last year, to sprinkle on the tables. I had brought the jar down to my scramp room as that seemed to be the most appropriate place for them, and ended up using a few single sprinkles on the books! So I've been MIA on here for about a week, but with good reason! On Wednesday Feb 10th, around midnight I went into labor and miss Ava made her appearance after noon on Thursday - talk about being right on time! Thanks to everyone who have already sent well wishes - mom and baby are doing great!

HUBBY - DON'T PEEK or you'll RUIN Valentines!

As I mentioned yesterday, I already created hubby's Valentines card - and here it is!!

I used very non-traditional colors for his card - black and teal! LOL! I had the idea to have one of the DoodleFactory creatures holding a heart for this card and I ended up choosing Fargo from the Into the Woods stamp set! I believe the sketch was from an old 2sketches4you challenge - I found it on a sheet of paper while tidying the other day!

And thanks to Irene and her magic sentiment creation skills, the saying that hubby and I use to each other for what seems like FOREVER is in the Boudoir Sentiments set! How smart is she?!

Another end to another week! And still no baby! LOL!! Today's card is for the sketch challenge this Bellarific Friday! One of my BFF's is expecting this spring, and I've been trying to get as many cards done that NEED to get done as soon as possible in case the little miss goes all drama queen on me and doesn't let me craft in the near future! LOL!! The image looks pretty flat in the image above, but I actually stamped her bottom half on the white circle, then stamped her again on scrap paper, coloured her legs on the circle and her body and dress on the scrap and then popped everything but her legs up! Those Bella arms are sure tricky to cut!

Happy Friday! I've got a SUPER bright card to share with you today - using one of my new-er Bella stamps!

My hubby's cousin's wife is expecting in a few months and this is the card that I made for her baby shower present! I might not be able to go to the shower as it's a few days before the little miss is due, so we'll see how that goes!

...but a picture of another big project that I've got in the works, and need to finish ASAP!!!

A while back (seems like forever ago now) when we got pregnant, hubby and I were trying to decide how to decorate the baby's room - and he came up with the idea of painting some of the DoodleFactory creatures/animals on the walls! Tracey from Starving Artistamps and Irene (DF artist extraordinaire) were all for the idea and luckily we're on the home stretch - of both the painting and the pregnancy! Just thought I'd show you a sneeky peek at my favorite part so far! Isn't Yoop the cutest?! Looks like she just picked the tulip from her garden!

I'll have some cards posted later on this week - thought some of you would be interested in seeing the progress, as I haven't mentioned this project in a LONG time!

Happy Monday!!

I am SUPER happy this Monday because it is my first official day on maternity leave!! YIPPEE!! And I also have a SNEAK PEEK of a brand spankin' new set from Starving Artistamps!! The set is called DoodleFactory Boudoir, and although the "official" release isn't until this Wednesday, you can stop by the Starving Artistamps store and take a peek at the set and the matching sentiments! It is a perfect compliment to the DoodleFactory Classic Decor set, and as you can see I've incorporated an image from the Classic Decor set and sentiment with some Boudoir images!

Ms. Poose is making an appearance, and a nuisance of herself, while checking out the new furniture... just like my kitty, she needs to make a statement... this statement was that she wasn't very fond of that specific bottle! LOL!! Funny thing about this card - I coloured the spill with Prismacolor pencils, and the flash caught a glare on the spill on the rug making it look glossy... LIGHTBULB - so I added some Liquid Glass (ie: Crystal Effects for those SU'ers) to make it look liquidy!

Welcome 2010!!

The New Year is finally here! 2009 has been an interesting one to say the least - but with a new year comes new things and I can't wait!

Please excuse my MIA status the past 2 weeks... I've had a terrible chest cold, a sinus infection (which I'm still not over) but I have moved into my new scramp room and began working on the baby's room! It's been a busy 2 weeks, and I'm still trying to recover! I'll post pics of the scramp room and the progress of the baby's room soon... just have to finish organizing (my house is a bit of a disaster area right now!)

Thankfully I was able to crank out some cards the past few days - I haven't participated in a TGF challenge in a little while so I pulled out my stamps and participated in the TGF 12 Days of Sketches Challenge! It was nice to not have to think about a sketch and just whip out some cards - I'm now set for all my January and February birthdays! And I got one Christmas card for 2010 done! Ha! Now that's progress! LOL!!

Here are the first 6 cards I made - all use various papers, embellies, etc. but I decided to make all square cards instead of the standard A2, so I had to re-draw all the sketches as I went.

Happy Friday!! This time next week we'll be up and about, tackling the Christmas tree! I know I've said it before but this year has FLOWN by! I can't believe December is almost over... but to fight the winter blues (that I'm bound to get sooner or later) I made a card that focuses on one of the fun winter activities that I still love!

Today's card features big Claire and little Claire penguins - when I saw these images in the new DoodleFactory Arctic set I couldn't help but think of them making snow angels... just picture yourself looking down at two cute little penguins making snow angels on your front lawn! That would make my day! LOL!

Well for me the holiday festivities begin tonight - my two best friends and I are doing our Christmas get together/girls night, then tomorrow is finishing up Christmas shopping, then going to my Dad's Christmas party. Then Sunday is my extended family's Christmas get together... wish me luck! I'm sure to be pooped by the end of this weekend!

Scramp room update!!

Update time!!! It's almost finished!! The walls are a nice chocolate brown and the countertops are a nice soft green colour (Sweet Leaf for all those CTMH'ers out there!).

The bottom cabinets are all open, and the top cabinets will have doors. I've got a space for my little TV in the center upper cabinet and below you can see my desk work area - peg board and all!! The other side is a mirror image and that's where we'll have our computer.

Hubby will be finishing up the scramp room this weekend (and removing all his tools, etc.!) and then its MOVE IN TIME!! I'm sure it'll be a pure DISASTER for a little while but as soon as it's presentable I'll post the before and after pics! And then it's on to finishing the baby's room!

Bellarific Friday... on Tuesday!!

As you can see from my post title, I'm posting my submission for this week's Bellarific Friday today! The challenge this week was to have stitching (faux or real) on your cards - easy peasy!! I stitch on ALL my cards so this was a breeze!

And I have to apologize now for the excess use of this blue glitter paper... I have a TON of it and I'd like to use it up - dark blue isn't a colour I use much during the remainder of the year, so you're just going to have to DEAL! LOL! I'm going to try my hardest to participate in Sparkle's Christmas Card challenge this upcoming year, so I don't have to swamp you with all this blue... I'm looking out for you!! Ha!

I have 4 cards to share with you today - I have to say - I LOVE this set!! Yeah, I know... you're saying... "Jenn, you say that ALL the time!" But seriously... this is such a fun set and very versatile!

My first card features the two little Eskimos from the set, Eva and Ande! The nice thing about this set is it comes with a handful of matching sentiments - this is one of them with the word "heart" removed, and I replaced it with a heart from the Valentines sentiment set. Another addition is the little present that Ande has for Eva, which is from the DoodleFactory Valentines Remix set!

My second card is a non-traditional colored Christmas card. Being in Canada we see tons of deer and moose, and this guy is much more friendlier looking than some I've seen near the road! You don't want to mess with a moose! My little guy's name is Mooth and he's wishing you a Merry Christ-Moose! HA! Love it!

I'd like you to meet Clare! She's the CA-UTE little penguin from the set - I freakin LOVE penguins! I'd have one as a pet if I could! And I know penguins are supposed to be black and white... but I just wasn't feeling it, so she's blue to match the card! There are also two bitty penguins in the set that I can't wait to stamp up!

Last but not least is Dodge! He's taking to the slopes on a chilly winter's day! All I've been hearing around blogland is the snow people have been getting... well... for the Capital of Canada... we had a NICE sunny day yesterday - no snow until the middle of the week... probably the same system making it's way up here! Bleh! Anyways, Dodge is taking advantage of the freezy weather!

Another Christmas card case here! I got my copy of the Christmas Cards book from Scrapbook Trends a few weeks ago and I really liked the Winter Wonderland card on pg. 104 by Beatriz Jennings. I used a different colour palette and forgot to put the white felt piece on, but I think it still works!

I used the pretty little angel from the DoodleFactory O Holy Night set and she's all glittered up! I used one of the new snowflake dimensional elements from CTMH and I've covered it with Prisma glitter too! And I added one of the double crocheted flowers that I made this summer as a little extra sumthin, sumthin...

Happy Saturday! I don't usually post on the weekends but this week was absolutely crazy and I only posted once... so I felt bad... :( So how many times have you all gone to see New Moon this weekend? A blog that I love to visit, and cracks me up on a regular basis is that of Jan Tinklenburg, aka Jan Tink at Stamps, Paper, Scissors! She's a hoot! And she made the cA-Utest card last week! It was the inspiration for this card that I share with you today, and you can find it here.

As I mentioned in my last post I got a few goodies from Stamping Bella last week, one being The Choir, as shown above... I knew the image was a decent size and a bit longer, so I used Jan's card as the inspiration for mine... and she never ceased to amaze me with the ways she uses the woodgrain stamp... this time on a Christmas card... who knew?! I did change the ribbon and sentiment a tad, but I think my finished product is FAB!

Happy Friday the 13th!! Ohhhh.... spooky!!! I'm actually posting this Thursday night, but it's technically for Friday... so just go with it, m-kay! To offset the not so fabulous day, I've got a very fabulous Christmas card to share! And you'll be so proud of me - I got 3 challenges in one in this card!

Well, the first challenge is kinda late... Mojo Monday 111 from last week was the inspiration for the front of my card. The second challenge (and I wanted to make one of these cards anyways) is the Easel Card challenge from Crazy 4 Challenges! And third was the Wild Card challenge for Bellarific Friday this week! Damn I'm good! LOL!

I got my Stamping Bella order yesterday and I just HAD to get a few of Lori Boyd's new Lollipops stamps! This card features Hannah, and she's wearing a lovely holiday dress! Isn't she purdy?! Her dress is paper pieced and the rest of her is coloured with Prismacolors. A few little pearl accents and she's ready to go!

My SIL gave me... er... the baby an easel card recently, and I've seen so many people making different sized ones, so I needed to jump on the bandwagon! Very cool design! I kept the inside fairly simple so there's lots of room for a Christmas message!

Happy Thursday everyone! The week is almost over – I’m very thankful for that because I’m getting myself pampered on Saturday! And Vampire Diaries is on tonight! Can’t wait! This episode looks AWESOME!

Today’s card features more stamps from the DoodleFactory O Holy Night set from Starving Artistamps! I made a little scene for the focus of my card with the Mary, Joseph and little baby Jesus stamps. LBJ (for short!) is popped up with the NEW POP! foam tape from Starving Artistamps – this stuff is awesome!! First of all it’s the BIGGEST roll of foam tape I’ve seen in my life – it’s literally the size of a 12 x 12 sheet of paper! And the adhesive is SUPER sticky! So needless to say, MUCH better than my usual dollar store foam squares… I’m converted! I used the 1/8th thickness tape which would be perfect for layering stamped images… give it a try! You won’t be disappointed!!

I’m full force into my Christmas cards now… but I’ve been trying to use different, non-traditional colours for my cards – the other night I made a few light pink and baby blue cards with lots o’ GLITTA! And some (that are half done) use papers from the CTMH Perfect Day paper pack… just trying to switch it up this year!!

Irene has done it again! Not her usual goofy critters with tons of personality, but a very tasteful, detailed holiday stamp set in her signature style! I’m not very religious myself, but thought that these images would be perfect for the religious members in my family for Christmas cards! The DoodleFactory O Holy Night set is a smaller set, but the images are of decent size and are very lovely! Today’s card features little baby Jesus – and I used the first two lines of the “Away in a manger,” Christmas carol stamp for the sentiment.

Now that the only holiday left this year (in Canada) is Christmas, you’ll be sure to see TONS of Christmas and holiday cards from here on out. I just got my copy of the Scrapbook Trends Holiday Cards magazine/book in the mail Friday so I’ll be using it for plenty of inspiration! YIPPEE!!!

And hubby is gone hunting this week, so I’ve got the whole week to make CARDS!! And watch my favourite shows on TV without working around hockey games!

After making the card to send to Jaimie, I felt like making a just because card… no contest, no DT, no sketch challenge, no specific stamps… just because… and this is what I came up with!

I love the little Ginger Bell stamps from The Greeting Farm – she’s such a cute little thing! I had some scraps on my desk from Jaimie’s card so I used them up.

I stamped Ginger Bell twice – once on the background paper with the head flowing off the paper and once on scrap paper. The head was cut from the extra piece and popped up for dimension. I haven’t done a coloured card base in a while (did one on Jaimie’s card too) so it was a nice change! Card size is 4.25” x 4.25”.

On October 4^th, 4 teenagers armed with knives broke into a home in a small town in New Hampshire. Alone and sleeping inside were a mother and her 11 year old daughter. These 4 boys broke into this home with the intent to rob and kill anyone inside. They stabbed the mom, Kimberly Cates, to death and left her daughter, Jaimie, for dead in their driveway. It was a completely random act, their home was chosen only due to its secluded surroundings.

Our hope is that everyone hopping around today will stop for a moment and think about Jaimie and her father and what life must be like for them now. One moment in time has changed their lives forever. We are asking that everyone reading this message please take a moment to make a card and send it off to Jaimie. You can make something very simple or much more involved, but please share some words of hope and love and let her know that people do care and want the best for her. Halloween Mummy!!

Warning – you may be offended by the sentiment used on this card… just throwing that out there!

My last Halloween card I share with you today! My SIL Sheena and I thought it would be funny to use one of last year’s DoodleFactory Halloween images with this sentiment from the Easter set from earlier this year… the mummy has risen from the grave and is coming to eat yur brainz!

I also used images from the DoodleFactory Into the Woods set for the background treatment. Little Mummy man is popped up with foam squares for dimension!

Well we didn’t get around to carving our pumpkins last night, but it’s all well and good because our plans for tonight were cancelled, there’s nothing important on TV so we’re going to take our time and carve them tonight!

So my new Thursday night obsession is the Vampire Diaries show… its AWESOME!! I’ve read both books already… (nothing like the tv series I may add, but still nice to know some background) and I absolutely LOVE the show. So absolutely NOTHING was done last night between 7-8pm. Have any of you seen the show? Any feedback? Who’s your favourite vamp… Stephen or Damon? Seeing as I love Paul Wesley anyways, I vote Stephen!

Mini Prismacolor workshop...

Hello again! This past week has completely flown by… guess that’s what happens when you don’t have a minute to spare! My lack of blogging has been due to a few workshops that needed the samples finished, my birthday festivities, the actual workshops taking place, and life! Can you believe I actually had to schedule with hubby our pumpkin carving tonight!? That’s if he can pull his behind off the couch and multi-task when the hockey game is on! LOL!! Anyways, today I’ve got three quick and easy cards that were put together for a mini Prismacolor workshop with my friend Janet! She’s new to Prismacolor pencils and wanted to learn a few beginner techniques. Papers are all from the CTMH Jingle paper pack.

We started off with this cute card using the newest Sprout from The Greeting Farm. I love their bold outline stamps – perfect for this medium! The focus of this card was how to do a basic solid colour, and how to colour and shadow a face.

Then we created two snowman cards, with two different techniques to make a white image POP! One shading the inside and one shading the outside.

I might have one more Halloween card to show you tomorrow – it’s currently up for debate because the sentiment may be offensive to some… so who knows… maybe I’ll just blur the sentiment out and show you the rest of the card! And then I’ve got some NEW DoodleFactory images to share! The new DoodleFactory Nativity set is up in the store and it’s TOO CUTE!! I have 5 cards to share today; two of them with a different take on the stamp set style!

My first card uses Spuddy! He’s on a moon walk taking in the sights! I used my yellow and baby blue stickles to accent the shooting stars and Spuddy’s space suit – nothing says space suit without a bit of BLING! LOL!

My second card probably looks familiar to you... yup - it's Vort! And this card is what gave me the idea for the Blog Hop button you've seen around! Gotta love Photoshop! This card reminds me of the aliens from the Simpsons cartoons - always looking down on earth to plan their next attack! I used my yellow stickles over little white brads to accent the dots on the arrow... they look kinda crooked though... sorry!

Oh cute little Zega… I love her!! And as soon as I saw her I knew she needed to be pink! For this card I stamped the space station image on the kraft paper rectangle and as well on white cardstock. I coloured the white portion and cut it out so that the colours were more vibrant against the background. Zega is then popped up, and wants to show us her lovely home!

And now for the non-space themed cards using the Final Frontier stamps! One of the sentiments that comes on the sheet is “Peace on Earth”… so I thought, why not make a Christmas card! I stamped the big earth image onto kraft paper and then shaded parts of the interior. Add the sentiment and a poinsettia and voila! Insta-Christmas card!

And last but not least, is my favourite card of the bunch – a Valentines card! Dot needed some eyelashes to make her more feminine, so those were drawn in after she was stamped, and then I stamped Dash to be her companion. The heart is from the DoodleFactory Valentines remix set and the sentiment is from the Urban Sentiments #2 set. Don’t they make the cutest couple?!

Well I hope you liked my take on this fantastic new set! As you can see, the DoodleFactory stamps are extremely versatile and can be used for almost any holiday or theme!

Just a quick card to share today... really didn't do much except create the wrap. One of the great things about working at a printing company is when they cut more pieces than what they need, they give the extras to me! So I ended up with a stack of these BEE-U-tiful sparkly purple tri-fold card bases. They are the size of a standard letter envelope. So I put a piece of Colonial white cardstock inside to write on, and then created this wrap! It was given to hubby's cousin as their wedding card. All items are CTMH except for the card base.

Halloween is almost here!! With Thanksgiving (Canadian style) past us, Halloween is the next upcoming holiday! Have any of you seen the preview for the new Saw movie... isn't this like the 100th movie in the series?! LOL! Anyways, here's another spooktacular card!

This was the first time I've cut out an image and left white space around it... I guess that's alot easier than trying to pop up every single little bone in this guys body!! Yeah.. not going to happen! This card uses the Mojo Monday sketch #108 from this week - I haven't done a Mojo sketch in a while so I thought I'd better get with the times!

Scramp room update!!

Update time!! The drywall is done and the first coat of primer has been put on the walls! Here's a pic of hubby the other night sanding the last of the drywall mud. The outer walls will be finished after the inside is finished, so that's why there's still exposed beams. And I heard a little rumor that I might be getting some nice french doors for the doorway!! Very nice!!

A purple ghost and a three holed button!

Happy Wednesday everyone!! I have another Halloween card to share today! Only 24 more sleeps until Halloween!!

While creating this card I found myself perplexed as how I was supposed to "color" my little ghost... Ghosts are white (unless they use a patterned sheet... hehe..) but I wanted to make this little guy stand out! So I colored him purple... very light purple along the outside edges and around the features of the image to give him dimension. I think it turned out quite well if I do say so! And have you ever seen a THREE holed button? I never had before I made this card! Yep - my little green button has three holes... odd, but I felt kinda crazy and went with it!!! LOL!!

Anyone have any favourite Halloween stories to share? Favourite costume of all time?

Trick or treat...

It’s Saturday!! It’s World Card Making Day!! And it’s October!! My favorite month of the year!! It’s my favourite for a few reasons – one being that I LOVE fall! Not so much the cold weather, but the colours of the leaves changing and the smell… you know… you go outside and it just smells like Fall! And my birthday is this month – gotta love a reason to get presents and celebrate ME!! LOL!

My favourite holiday is this month as well – because my birthday is exactly a week before Halloween, as a kid I always had Halloween themed birthday parties! And I love dressing up as someone or something else! Also, I’d trade a chick flick for a blood and guts slash fest any day! (Maybe my mind is a little twisted… but that’s just me… oh well!)

Today I have another card showcasing the DoodleFactory Costume Party stamp set from Starving Artistamps! I added the tree and fence from the Into the Woods set as well to create the background. I coloured and then masked the fence before sponging the background. I also added a bit of white Prismacolor pencil to the inside of the sentiment so it would stand out more.

I hope everyone out there is enjoying World Card Making Day! I sure am as today I’m having a Christmas Card workshop at my SIL Sheena’s place! I will post some pics and the final cards next week!

Look at this little devilish Vampire! He’s too cute to be too spooky, with his little golf shirt and sneakers!! I LOVE Halloween and I had so much fun making these Halloween cards!

I wanted something else for the background so I scored the orange cardstock with random diagonal lines and then put my ribbon on an angle as well. A little odd for my style, but why not!!?

Well, we had the ultrasound on Wednesday of last week and for my first ultrasound (long story) it was quite the experience! It was amazing to see the baby move even though I didn’t feel it very well, and when the ultrasound tech started, it looked like the baby was waving!! We got to see the size, all the measurements, everything looking normal and healthy and right on track for my original due date of Feb. 11th. And the tech asked us twice if we wanted to find out the gender – YES!!! So the tech maneuvered around for a bit to get a good look at the “business” and she said that she was 95% sure of the gender…

GIRL!!!

Isn’t she adorable??!!! A little smaller in the pic than in RL but cute none-the-less!!

We’re very excited to be having a girl!! I cried a little when we found out (happy tears!) and we’re ecstatic! After we left the hospital hubby realized what having a girl meant… periods, drama, and “worrying about every prick in town” (aka boyfriends) as he so put it!! I’m happy that there will be another girl in the house! Gotta try to even out the dynamics!

So what I didn’t tell you all before was that we’ve had the girl name picked since I was about a month and a half pregnant, and when we finally picked a boy’s name (last week), she kicked me… guess that was our way of “knowing” it was a girl, and her way of telling us that she’s a girl… “I don’t want that yucky boy’s name!” LOL!! Yes, she already has a little diva attitude!

So thank you to everyone who participated; unfortunately there can only be one winner though!! I used Random.org to pick the number, and the winning comment was lucky number…

Happy Halloween!

I had a very productive Saturday this past weekend – I attended Elgin’s Crop in Carleton Place, ON, and got a whole load of Halloween cards created with the new DoodleFactory “Costume Party” stamp set from Starving Artistamps! Here’s one of the cards I created!

You can’t see it in the picture, but this was my first attempt at using Tattered Angel’s Glimmer Mist! – I got a bottle of the Opaque Gold and wanted to try it out. So I used a circle punch and a post-it to mask the moon in the background. I spritzed the moon, and then when it dried I used the circle punch out to mask the moon when I sponged the background. I also masked the fence to get the colour to go behind it nicely. This layout is from the new Wishes book from CTMH and I LOVE this layout! It’s nice to put the sentiment somewhere different and this layout works perfectly. The fence, Kitty Girl’s face and treat holder were coloured with Prismacolor pencils.

Happy Birthday!

Happy Tuesday! I LOVE short weeks!! Only 1 day until the week is half over! Gotta love that!

Today's card is the second card that I created for my friend at work. It's her Sister's birthday as well in September so this is the card I created for her. I used Megan from TGF, coloured with Prismacolor pencils. Papers are from K&Co's Urban Rhapsody pack. I used nice wide pink ribbon to match and I also came across a pack of OLD chipboard ribbon slides and bookplates from CTMH, so I've been trying to use them up! Sentiment is from CTMH.

Funny thing about this image... I almost cut Megan's ears off! I like to pop up my main images, so if there's a stray line or something that I can get away with cutting off and not ruining the image, I tend to do so. In the original image, Megan has these cute little tendrils on the side of her face - I almost cut everything off the side of her face when I realized that the two half circles... I think... are her ears! LOL!! This is the first girl Wild Sprout that has ears showing so I had to think twice!

Quick card on holiday Monday!

I know it is late for my usual posting, but I just wanted to share a quick and simple card I whipped together today! My friend at work asked me to make two cards for her, and this is the birthday card she requested for her Dad.

This card is all CTMH. I used the "Abundance" paper pack and "Happy Birthday" sentiment stamp set. The clip is from an old Connections Club pack and I added some scrap hemp to the end. Finished size is 5.25 x 5.25".

In the works...

Hubby started building the cabinets for my new scramp room this weekend!! I’m super excited to be getting a nice space dedicated to all my crafting addictions! I thought I’d show the progress of the room, but I can’t do that without showing a “before” picture! Please excuse the random junk that is cluttering the floor – soon it will all be cleared out!

A little background: this room is directly below our dining room – the three angled walls have nice big windows in it upstairs. Originally hubby wanted to have a bar in this area. We came to the decision though, that once we fill up the upstairs rooms with rugrats, I’d eventually have to move my crafting supplies elsewhere, and he suggested a corner in the basement rec-room. Talking about how hubby wants a “cabin-y” feel to the basement, I didn’t see the sense in having my scrapbook and stamping clutter ruining the cabin vibe that he was going for… so… why not have the bar in the same area with the “man-room, cabin-y” business… and that nice secluded space, that we can build a wall in front of, and a door to close it all in and keep the disaster contained, can be my scramp room! Novel idea! Well, hubby was a bit disappointed that his big bar space would be housing craft supplies, but after we discussed it for a bit, the room was mine! Muah ha ha ha!!! Once we found out that we were expecting, and didn’t want to forfeit the spare room upstairs, we decided to turn our office/scramp room into the nursery, and so the crunch is on to get my room finished!! Here’s a pic of what it will look like once completed… all open shelves on the bottom (only a single shelf though) for my cardstocks, papers and albums, and doors on the upper cabinets to hide the rest of the mess! LOL! On the left is the computer station and on the right is my work desk (so I can sit to work). The perspective in the drawing is off a bit, as the two desks will be the full length of the side walls. And of course I need my mini tv in there so I can watch America’s Next Top Model! LOL!

This weekend hubby got all the doors made for the upper cabinets and the majority of the upper cabinet boxes made. Next are the base cabinets! I picked out a nice fabric that I’m going to use as my colour palette, and the white cabinets he’s making will work perfectly with the theme! I plan on posting updated pics on a regular basis so you can see the progress!

Card CASE time! I love these little trees from the new DoodleFactory "Into the Woods" set from Starving Artistamps! And when I came across these cards by Jill Hilliard I knew a CASE was in order!

Did you spot the card? Back row, on the right... that's it!! For my card I used the three tree stamps in the set, and papers are from SU! and CTMH. A little stitching and clear Bella baubles and we're got ourselves a card! I paper pieced all three tree tops and sponged them to give a bit of dimension.

Card workshop box

I’m holding a Christmas card workshop at my SIL’s in October (it’s never too early to get your Christmas cards done!) and I’ve started getting a few of the items that we’ll be using. I came across the A2 card box from Taylored Expressions and thought they’d be a great way to package/hold the cards from the workshop – let me just say that this box is the BEST EVER!! CTMH has a similar box for large items, but this A2 box is the perfect size for cards and envelopes. So I ordered a few packages and this is what I did with the first one!

The card workshop will be using all CTMH – for the card box I used the new Jingle paper pack, stocking from the “Stocking Style” stamp set and sentiment from the “Holiday Trinkets” stamp set (all available Sept. 1st). I cut out pieces of white craft felt for the stocking trim and sewed the edges of each. I also sewed all the panels before putting them on the box. I added ribbon and red drops as an extra touch. You like?

I’ll be putting together an extra set of this card workshop to, umm… possibly give away with a special blog candy package I may have mentioned… stay tuned… September is almost here!

Sew simple challenge & an update...

The Greeting Farm has the BEST Farm Fresh Friday challenges and this past week was to use stitching/sewing on your creations... here's what I made!

My card uses all CTMH except for Bree, one of the newest Wild Sprouts from TGF. I used the Bella paper pack, "Thank You" stamp, Garden Green ribbon, dark purple embroidery floss and Hollyhock buttons. The sentiment panel is an old bookplate chipboard dimensional.

For the challenge requirements I used my sewing machine and stitched the outside of my card base, a zig-zag where the two pattern papers meet and stitched along the border of the image panel. I hand stitched the flourishes and then sewed on the buttons.

Update time: So last week I made the decision to leave the Project Tuesday Design Team. I loved creating along with the PT gals - they are such a great group! I missed a few weeks back in June and July due to a nasty bout of morning sickness... that's right! I'm pregnant!! And as this summer has been extremely busy I felt it necessary to step down and let someone else take my place. We have some finishing to do with our house... along with the new baby I get a new scrap room!! Yahoo!! Our office/craft room will be turned into the nursery so we don't forfeit our spare room and we're finishing the basement along with a room all to myself!! I'll be sure to post pics as the process begins!

So forgive me in advance if my posting is sporatic - there are lots of things coming up that I plan on sharing with you so keep on stopping by! We find out the sex of the baby (so long as baby cooperates!) on September 23rd, and I think that calls for some blog candy! So stay tuned!

Today's card features all TGF - sketch is from this past week's Farm Fresh Friday, hot air balloon is from the "Fly Away" set and the sentiment is from the "Cup of Stuff" set. Papers are Basic Grey. Images are coloured with Prismacolor pencils and popped up for dimension. This card was a request from a co-worker that needed an anniversary card... I don't have any "anniversary" type stamps (note to self: get the wedding Anya set!) so this will have to do!

New STAMPS!! I received a package last week while on vacation - the newest Starving Artistamps DoodleFactory releases! Yippee!! Sad though as it's Wednesday and I only have one card created! Life has been super busy lately, but I'll get to that in another post!

Today's card is using the new "Into the Woods" stamp sets and papers from the CTMH Emporium paper pack. Isn't Fargo the CUTEST!!!??? All images are coloured with my Prismacolor pencils and popped up for dimension. I also used the Mojo Monday sketch # 98 for the layout.

Birthday wishes!

Happy Monday!! I hope you all had a wonderful time on the ANYAversary Blog Hop this weekend! There were sooo many amazing creations - it's amazing to see the support and love behind such a great company! Here's to many more amazing designs and fun events from The Greeting Farm!!

I am officially on HOLIDAYS!! Only for a week, but it's a week well deserved! It's hubby and my wedding anniversary on Wednesday so we're taking a little trip for a few days away. Nothing too special, just getting out of Ottawa for a few days to relax! And do some shopping!

This card is for my niece's birthday which was last week - we won't be seeing her until this week so I just got around to making the card this past Saturday while going through TGF blog hop! I did a bit of cutting and pasting though - this is Annika's head and legs, on Dress Me Anya's upper body with a Wardrobe 2 outfit. I really liked Annika's pretty noggin' but I just wanted a cute little summer get-up for her so this is what I came up with! I also used the Boom Di Ada paper pack from CTMH and a toned down Mojo Monday sketch from last week.

The Greeting Farm turns 1 year old today! Thanks for stopping by my little slice of the celebration! I have a little story that goes along with the card I made for this wonderful event!

As you all know the theme of this blog hop is "Birthdays"! I made a birthday card as you can see, but I incorporated my very first TGF stamp set, Lucky Bunnies, with my most recently aquired TGF stamp set, Fly Away! I thought it only fitting to celebrate a year long of amazing images brought to us by Marie! I also used the birthday sentiment from Jessica's first stamp set, Butterfly Wishes! Papers are from the Notebook paper pack from CTMH. The images are coloured with my Prismacolors and I used Prisma glitter on a few of the balloons!

quick and simple thanks...

Just a quick and simple card to share today... I'm getting my contribution ready for a special event (more on that below) and I needed to whip up a simple "thank you" card for one of hubby's co-workers. This is what I came up with!

You know I love my sketches! This card uses the CPS Sketch 126 from this week! And my card is a CTMH only card, with the exception of the three buttons. I used papers from the "Free Spirit" paper pack and the sentiment is one of many "thanks" stamps in the "Thank You" stamp set.

So next post will be Saturday morning for the ANYAversary Blog Hop with The Greeting Farm! Project Tuesday!!

It's Tuesday again!! And it's sad to realize that I haven't posted any artwork since last Tuesday! Where does the time go?! July is almost over... sad, I know, but if you have had any weather like our weather here in Eastern Ontario, you're begging that August is better! It has been miserable here! All it does is rain all day... it was nice for a few hours yesterday afternoon and hopefully the rest of this week and next week are great! Holidays, here I come!

With the real summer weather hopefully coming our way soon I wanted to create a summer theme for today's project. Speaking of, today's project is the Pull Treat Holder and the tutorial can be found at SCS here!

My pull treat holder uses all CTMH except for the new Woodgrain background stamp from SU! I just fell in LOVE with it! I used the CTMH Moon Doggie paper pack, the Extreme Happiness and Thank You stamp sets. Only other things that aren't CTMH is the brown wide ribbon and a misc. button. No colouring on this project - it was nice to do some full colour stamping - haven't done that in a while!

Speaking of CTMH, the new Fall/Winter Idea Book comes out September 1st, but I get a little sneaky peak on Saturday and will be ordering some new goodies to show you!! Can't wait!!
